The Popguns
Formed in the 80s, long-serving English indie pop crew The Popguns return to Scotland for an intimate summer show at The Hug and Pint on Mon 17 Aug.
Line Up
Formed in Brighton in 1987, The Popguns soon received critical acclaim in the music press and recorded 2 John Peel sessions before releasing their first album, Eugenie, in 1990. This included the 1st single "Landslide" which made a 1989 Peel Festive 50 entry as well as "Waiting For The Winter", a fans' favourite which is now close to 100,000 youtube views. This was followed by 2 more albums, SNOG in 1991 and Lovejunky in 1994, as well as various singles featuring in the music press indie-charts of the day.
They are now back with a new album "Pop Fiction" (released in 2015 on Matinee Recordings) which has received BBC 6 Music airplay and featured as the number 1 or number 2 "album of the year" on numerous indie blog sites (e.g. http://lineartrackinglives.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/the-popguns-aim-high-and-hit-bulls-eye.html). Since returningThe Popguns have played headline gigs in New York, Paris, Berlin and Barcelona as well as the UK Indie-tracks festival and shows a little closer to their Brighton home. Expect another new album towards the end on 2016.
