Duan

Duan are a Glasgow/Edinburgh based Gaelic band, dedicated to preserving traditional songs and combining them with a modern flair. The band grew up together, attending the Gaelic school in Edinburgh, and have always enjoyed playing and exploring music together. Formerly known as Bùrach, after a series of gigs they recently updated their name to Duan in 2023.

Singers Tawana Maramba and Iris MacLeod are backed by Piano/Guitar duo Laura Penman and Finlay Lawson. The fusion of strong, traditional melodies and harmonies with creative contemporary arrangements allows the band to explore and experiment, creating their own unique musical voice.

Dàna

Dàna are a new and exciting all-female band in their final year studying traditional music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The band's name, meaning “bold” or “audacious” in Gaelic, perfectly encapsulates their vibrant sound and approach to performance.

Dàna have spent the past few years creating music together, bringing music from each of their respective home areas - Knoydart, Oban, Campbeltown, Edinburgh and Wales. Being immersed in the Glasgow traditional music scene, the girls are driven and eagerly anticipate introducing their traditional and folk arrangements to a wider audience in the coming months. The band consists of Alex Wotherspoon on piano, Laura Penman on harp, Anna Robertson on fiddle, Eleanor Tout on whistle and Emma Hill on bagpipes.
