2020 saw THUMPER perform a blistering Eurosonic show, a sold out Molotow Hamburg performance, and embark on a month long UK/EU tour in support of their single Ad Nauseam. This intense touring schedule was abruptly cut short in March due to Covid19, however the band channeled this momentum back into the studio. In June the single "Topher Grace" was released to critical acclaim - scoring extensive radio play on BBC6, Kerrang! & RadioX amongst others in the UK, as well as support from RTE and others at home in Ireland. It was also included on several Spotify and GooglePlay playlists, making the cover of Spotify's The Punk List. Now with several successful live-streamed shows under their belt (including the Topher Grace launch show, a Waves Vienna festival show, and a headline show from the Button Factory, Dublin hosted by HotPress) THUMPER set their sights on late 2021 - including a festival slot at Iceland Airwaves, an international tour, and the announcement of a long awaited debut LP.

"THUMPER are punching like heavyweights alongside Fontaines D.C. & The Murder Capital" Chris Hawking, BBC Radio 6

“A band so far up my street they might as well be kicking my front door in” Phil Taggart

“Pop hooks and ragged guitar noises collide on THUMPER’s bratty, frenetic punk rock.” Q Magazine “My highlight of Eurosonic, Two drummers making an epic noise on stage. Such a huge band. Really really massive sound" Abbie McCarthy, BBC Radio 1

"In Dublin it's been thrilling to witness The Murder Capital, Fontaines D.C. & THUMPER to see who can be the most visceral on stage and on record" Hot Press Magazine

"Cult heroes in their native Dublin, the band's crunching sound and intense live shows are shot through with a dynamic, ultra-infectious sense of energy." CLASH Magazine

Line Up

THUMPER are a noise-pop quartet from Dublin, delivering bubblegum pop through a wall of sonic death. With a reputation for raucous and frenzied live shows, 2 EPs full of lo-fi ear worms (think Sonic Youth vs Abba), and penchant for howling feedback and pounding rhythm, this is a band u'll love 2 love.

THUMPER have played alongside several Irish contemporaries such as Squarehead, Fangclub, Raglans, OTHERKIN & Bitch Falcon (with the latter two featuring on the single "Rent Is Due"), as well as with Rough Trade's The Prettiots.

Summer 2016 saw THUMPER release their second EP 'Magnum Opuss' on Little L Records, and appear at several festivals including Electric Picnic (IE), Knockanstockan (IE), Other Voices and TRUCK Festival (UK). Magnum Opuss was subsequently featured in the top 10 EPs of 2016 by The Last Mixed Tape, REMY and District Magazine, with the single 'Dan The Man' also featuring in The Thin Air & District Magazine's top 100 songs of 2016.

"New, exciting, revolutionary, and outright inspiring" IMPOSE Magazine

"This summer should see THUMPER become unstoppable" State.ie

"One of Ireland’s most exciting live bands... Magum Opuss is one of the records of the year" The Last Mixed Tape

"Few bands will release a better EP than Magnum Opuss this year." Remys Music & Film

"A couple of lauded EPs has seen their reputation rise but it’s live that THUMPER’s name is spreading faster than Donald Trump’s bullshit. THUMPER has quickly become one of the most exciting live bands in Ireland. They leave an indelible mark in your memory after a performance" Golden Plec

Formed in Glasgow, in late 2018 by Eva Gnatiuk (Las Mitras), with Simon Shaw (Trembling Bells / Lucky Luke), and spoken word performer, Lisa Jones. In 2019 Chas Lalli (Vom / Bad Aura) and Julian Dicken (formerly of Cosmic Dead) completed the line-up. Dragged Up combine Gnatiuk’s trash-fiction lyricism and haunted axe, with narratives in comic disappointment from Jones, Shaw’s post-Velvets/NYDolls guitar, Lalli’s plutonium-heavy bass and Dicken’s Television-era drumwerk.
