Ceaird Studio - Jesmonite Pot Casting
This popup class is a fun and engaging workshop focussed on experimenting with Jesmonite, a wonder casting material with limitless possibilities!
No experience is necessary for this 2 hour guided session, as your two mentors Andrew & Richard will be on hand to answer questions and show you interesting techniques.
Each participant will start with a selection of 3D printed moulds, and the raw materials to make 3 bespoke pots to take home at the end of your session. For the first two pots you will be encouraged to try out a colouring technique with specially formulated pigments, allowing each participant to create something truly unique.
Every participant will then take their chosen method into the making of a final pot, a masterpiece to take home and sit on the mantlepiece!
Please note classes may be canceled or rescheduled if the number of attendees does not meet the minimum required in order to deliver the event. In this unlikely event, you will be fully refunded and notified via email.
Workshop purchases are non-refundable, and all workshops places are guaranteed at the point of order confirmation.
During the two hour workshop participants will cast the material into 3D printed moulds and achieve various effects by adding pigments, creating splatters, layers and swishes of colour.
By the end everyone leaves with three solid pots to take home and use as you please!
The workshop runs 7-9 and costs £30 per person.
Ceàird was founded in 2018 to explore form, material & process through participatory workshops, pop up events, developing products and playing with ideas, no matter how developed.
Glasgow based designers Andrew Tibbles and Richard Clifford are interested in exploring the intersection of computational design & prototyping with familiar materials & traditional craft techniques.
The pair not only run Ceàird workshops across Scotland, design & manufacture products, but also carry out research in partnership with academic institutions, industry, arts organisations and other researchers through their consultancy, MKR Agency.
